Author:
Kenor
Artist Bio:
Kenor began painting in the 1990’s, when, inspired by the rhythm of life in Barcelona -- its colours, sounds, lights, and movements, its decaying walls, its inhabitants and their connections to their home -- he transformed his fascination with the city where he grew up into abstract works. As he continues to push the boundaries of his concept and style, his will to transform the public urban environment through his energy and creativity never diminishes. Kenor’s continuous dialogue between his art, the city, and the human element translates into a wide body of work including graffiti art, sculpture, video, installations, and canvas painting. Despite this interdisciplinary practice, Kenor remains true to the original ethics of graffiti in his contemporary practice, but dedicates himself most strongly to creating innovative urban art.

Physical Description:
Hoep is an abstract-geometric piece, close to Kenor's own style, based on a repetition of patterns, geometric shapes and exact colour combinations. The optical effect of the painting reminds the aesthetics of "Hope", a previous artwork realized for SAMA in 2015 in Gendabry Park.
Iconography:
"Synchro (2018), was painted onto five pillars at the parking entrance to Schiphol international airport’s VIP Excellency Lounge. The artwork not only breaks the rigid structure of the industrial building, but brings movement and excitement to the otherwise unwelcoming and impersonal space that ironically hosts kings, presidents and pop icons. Kenor was one of the few artists capable of meeting the very complex and demanding brief, combining his innovative approach to space and composition with vibrant colours to create an abstract work that avoids any correlations to political or cultural prejudice."
