ETHICAL DILEMMA: TECHNOLOGY, PRIVACY AND BIG DATA

As part of the City of Amsterdam Digital City program, SAMA has been commissioned to design and produce an innovative and engaging program around the Debate on Privacy.

The intention of the program is to look at the topic of Privacy from the bigger scope of the associated themes: digital rights, anonymity and impact of technology.

Together with the Municipality of Amsterdam, Housing Corporations, and National Street Artists, SAMA will initiate public democratic voting for selecting the best ideas for murals execution on the subject.

This project will bring together local initiatives, local residents, the municipality and artists to unpack the complex subject of Privacy and surrounding it issues.

The topic of Privacy is an underlining subject of the SAMA's ethical and legal code towards handling artists, artworks and visitors.

'Privacy' and 'Anonymity" are the topics that run through the very essence of graffiti art, which activistic, poignant and democratic nature places artworks and its message at the forefront instead of glorifying the name of its creators. Most of the authentic graffiti artists stay anonymous regardless their popularity and SAMA respects and honours their wishes for non-disclosure.

For SAMA, the project "Privacy" is a great opportunity to mediate this urgent critical discourse and by targeting these issues make a statement through the most democratic form of art.
